39 days, and the offer finally arrived. Three interview processes are still open, but I'm taking this one — and joining Monday.
We finally received the offer letter from one of the companies where I interviewed last week, and that means after 39 days of this journey, we are finally at a point where we have something concrete in our hands.
There were still a few other interview processes going on. Three of them have not responded yet, and there was another process which was still active. Initially, the plan was to keep going with everything, get multiple offers and then figure out which one makes the most sense in terms of opportunity, compensation and everything else.
But looking at the situation right now, I think I am going to accept this offer.
One of the biggest reasons is actually something very simple — the company is nearby my house. And I think after everything that has happened over the last month, that is something I really value.
When we started this journey, the objective was obviously to get a job, but somewhere along the way the journey became much bigger than just getting an offer letter.
We went through different phases.
There were days where I was extremely motivated and thought I could finish everything that I had planned. There were also days where I couldn't study at all. There were days where I spent too much time on my project, days where I went back into my comfort zone and days where I had to force myself to sit down and solve even two simple questions.
Then gradually things started changing.
We started understanding what was actually working for me and what wasn't. We changed the way I was planning my day, started dividing the time into different parts and eventually that helped me manage preparation, rest and other things together.
The interesting thing is that the final result didn't come from one extremely productive day.
It came from continuing after all those unproductive days.
And I think that's probably one of the biggest things I learned from this entire journey.
You don't necessarily need every day to be perfect.
You just need to make sure that one bad day doesn't become a bad week, and one bad week doesn't become the reason you stop completely.
There were multiple points during these 39 days where I felt that we were going backwards.
But every time we came back and started again.
And today, we have an offer letter.
So yeah, that feels really good.
There are still a few things pending. We don't know what is going to happen with the other interviews and whether we will hear back from them or not. But I don't think I want to keep waiting for everything to happen before moving forward.
We have something good in front of us, and I think it's time to take it.
The company is nearby, the opportunity looks good and most importantly, I feel ready to start working again.
On Monday, we will be joining the company.
Right now, I have around three days before that, and I'm going to use those days to recover properly because I'm a little low on health today. My voice might sound a little different as well, but that's okay.
I'll take these few days, recover and start fresh on Monday.
And that's actually another interesting part of this whole journey.
The moment we started this series, the goal was to find a new job.
Now that we have found one, the journey doesn't really end here.
It just changes.
From Monday onwards, the challenge will be completely different.
It will be about getting into a new environment, understanding the people, understanding the product, working on new problems and making sure that I perform well.
So this series is almost coming to an end, but I think there is still one more thing that I want to do.
I want to make the whole journey public so that anyone who is going through something similar can actually see what happened throughout the process.
Not just the offer letter.
But the 39 days that came before it.
The interviews that went well, the interviews that didn't, the preparation, the distractions, the changes in strategy, the days where I couldn't study and the days where things finally started falling into place.
Because that's what the journey actually looked like.
So yeah, today was day 39.
We finally got the offer.
On Monday, we start something new.
We have three days to recover and get ourselves ready, and then we'll see where the next journey takes us.
That's all from my end today.
See you again on day 40.
