A day spent mostly asleep, and a reframe of the push-fall-back pattern I keep hitting — the goal isn't to stop repeating it, it's to not land in the same place.
Everyone, welcome back to the channel. This is Day 27 of my journey to find a new job.
And as I have mentioned before, this journey is not just about applications, interviews, resumes, or preparation.
It is also about everything that happens around those things.
Because finding a job is not something that happens separately from life. You don't wake up as a person whose only responsibility is to prepare for interviews and then stop being a human being for the rest of the day.
Some days you perform.
Some days you focus so deeply that you don't even notice time passing.
And then there are days like today.
Days when you simply don't have it in you.
Today was not a productive day. I slept for most of it. I tried to rest, rejuvenate, and recover. It wasn't something I had planned yesterday, and honestly, I would prefer not to have too many days like this.
But sometimes your body and mind make the decision before your plans do.
And I think part of this journey is learning to accept that without immediately turning it into either an excuse or a reason to feel guilty.
There is a strange phase when you are not working.
You technically have more control over your time, but you also have less structure around it. Once you get into a job, there is a routine. You wake up, you have responsibilities, deadlines, meetings, and expectations.
Right now, I have freedom.
But freedom without structure can sometimes become its own challenge.
That is what I am learning.
Today also brought me back to something we have discussed in earlier days — the loop.
I have noticed this pattern with myself.
I push.
I focus.
I build momentum.
Then after a few days, I fall back into comfort.
Then I feel frustrated about falling back.
Then I try to push again.
And somewhere, the same pattern repeats.
A loop.
But today, while discussing this with a friend, I started thinking about it differently.
Maybe the goal is not to make sure the pattern never repeats.
Maybe the goal is to make sure that every time it repeats, I don't come back to the exact same place.
That is the difference between a loop and a spiral.
A loop brings you back to where you started.
A spiral may look repetitive from a distance, but every round takes you somewhere different.
Maybe I will still have days when I lose focus.
Maybe I will still have days when I sleep too much.
Maybe I will still get distracted by something that feels productive but takes me away from my immediate goal.
But if every time I return, I understand myself a little better, recover a little faster, and stay focused a little longer before falling back again — then perhaps I am not actually stuck.
Perhaps I am moving.
Slowly, imperfectly, but moving.
And that is what I want to focus on going into the next week.
Tomorrow is Sunday, and I don't want to treat it as a complete day off just because it is Sunday. At the same time, I don't want to create another unrealistic plan and overload myself.
The goal is simpler.
Give myself enough privilege to rest, but not enough freedom to disappear completely from the journey.
Cut down more distractions.
Especially the productive distractions.
Because I have learned that distractions don't always look like scrolling on your phone or wasting time.
Sometimes distractions look like building a project.
Sometimes they look like reading another interesting topic.
Sometimes they look like doing something useful that simply isn't the most important thing to do right now.
Those are harder to identify because they make you feel productive.
So the next week is about becoming a little more aware of where my energy goes.
Not trying to become perfect.
Not expecting every day to be exceptional.
Just making sure that when I go through the same patterns again, I come out slightly better than before.
Twenty-seven days into this journey, I think that is enough for now.
We don't need to win every single day.
But we should make sure we are not losing the same battle in exactly the same way.
That was Day 27.
Let's see if the next week turns this circle into a spiral.
See you again on Day 28.
